Elin’s Growth Ultrasound

At my appointment last week with Libby, she found that I was measuring about 4 weeks behind and ordered an ultrasound to check on Elin’s growth.

Mia and Papi were driving down to Orlando for the weekend, so perfect timing to be able to join us for the 2 hour wait at Dr. Buchanan’s office (very typical to wait for hours for the man)…our appointment was at 7:00 (YES!  in the evening!!) and we were in the van at 9:08…not bad in my opinion for Dr. B’s history :)

Long story-short. She is measuring around 33 weeks (I am 35) which puts her in the 10th percentile for growth…maybe around 4 lbs 10 ounces or so. He did a biophysical profile on her showing us her breathing, amniotic fluid levels, reflexes, movement and proportions were all beautiful!

We tried to get a 3D picture of her little face, but she was either shy or awfully cunning :)  She kept her little hands in front of her face the whole time…and Dr. B was pretty patient just sitting there waiting for her to move.

He did confirm, however, that she is indeed a girl! :)  Thanks goodness…

a picture of her fist…that’s as good as it got, folks!

We are scheduled to have another ultrasound in 2 weeks to make sure she is continuing to grow along her small curve.  Worst case scenario is she falls off the curve, needs to be delivered to grow outside the womb and we have an early baby.  But, he doesn’t said all things (the baby, placenta, etc) look too healthy for him to think that will be the case! PTL!
