WE ARE HOME!
Haiti was amazing. God moved in some serious ways as only he can! I wish I could show you EVERY moment and the hundreds of photos we took, but I have posted a few favorites that stood out in the week.
Actually, its crazy timing that I am posting this today. As you all know, a huge earthquake shook the nation of Haiti yesterday, leaving thousands missing or dead. This country is shockingly poor...with very little government control. It will take miracles to rebuild what took mere seconds to completely destroy.
We arrived home on January 2nd, but another team departed on January 9th and is currently at the compound in Lanzac (about 1 1/2 hours from Port au Prince). They are safe, but seeking the Lord for new direction with their resources since many plans are now unable to be completed.
Please continue to pray for these people and the devastation they are facing today.

The second night there, I had some massive anxiety, trouble sleeping, reflux. Though my thyroid might be acting up again (all tests are normal since I have been back home-Praise God). This drained me. The next morning, my amazing husband led the devotion and spoke about confidence. God totally filled me and I was put in the "hot seat" as Mark prayed for me and Herve, our Haitian pastor, interpreted in Creole. SO awesome to hear people pray to the same God in a completely different language!

Zach, Heather and Melanie Atkinson and I with a guy in La Hatte who spoke Spanish (EVERYONE else spoke French or Creole, so we were excited that we could toss a few words around with him that we knew!)

My 26 lb baby! This was the last day at MPCA...each patient had a slip with their name, age and weight on it by the time they got to me to be seen. Her slip said 8 months old---26lbs?!?! I told Zach that couldn't be right! He weighed her again, sure enough, it was RIGHT!! Eat it up!

So as a nurse, I rarely look in ears...just don't do it. No need to traumatize kids twice in the ER, so we leave it up to the doctors. But, I saw enough ears in Haiti to satisfy my lifelong quota!! Did I mention I saw patients...assessed, diagnosed, treated? 3rd world country style! Lots of learning, growing and fun!

Gwen-do-lyn...this sweet little girl grabbed our hands and walked with us for a few hours as we visited the disciples homes in LaHatte.
