thoughts from the lonestar state!
...just after 11:00PM and I am sitting in my hotel room in Sugar Land, Texas...thinking about my husband, missing him, wishing I was hugging him tight right now. also missing my sweet baby girl and hearing her ask, "whachu doin, mom?" and getting to kiss the soft, chubby cheeks of my very handsome baby boy...don't know how some people are away from their families for such a long period of time...

for all who are wondering, I am here till friday going through training for a new job I will be doing in gainesville for an infectious disease doctor. its still per diem (1 day a week or so) and its 8:30-5:30. I will still be working in the ER, but this gives me something a little more low key to do. and yes, I did arrive in houston safe and sound, but didn't get to rent a car because I found out when I went through security in gainesville that my driver license is expired...rather I say HAS BEEN expired since AUGUST 2007!!!! yes, a year and a half---who knew! I guess I can blame having 2 kids in 15 months for that little oversight---so needless to say, I wound up crying my eyes out sitting in the Thrifty car rental place while the clerk called me a taxi, then Jose, the SWEET cabbie, assured me that everything would be okay and proceeded to drive me the 45 minutes to my hotel in Sugar Land---oh yeah, and we made 2 ATM stops along the way and it cost a WHOPPING $100 for the short ride (don't worry, the company is reimbursing me!)

on to other news...

took the kids to see Dr. Carter on the 31st...Beckett got some shots updated, his first flu shot and ended up in the 25th percentile for his weight...head circumference and length are in the 50th...he's a little man, but there's still plenty to love!

evie, on the other hand, is in the 75th-90th percentile for height...Dr. Carter said that she is developmentally at the level of a 3 or 4 year old! I usually don't brag on my kids (well, ok, maybe a little) but I am exceptionally proud that she is so smart...something we all have known for a very long time. she kept dancing around the room singing "jingle bells, jingle bells..." and "silent night"...she also took a peice of paper (because mommy and Dr. Carter both had one) and mumbled something under her breath and diverted her eyes, the way she does when she is about to do something she knows she probably shouldn't do and she opened the door, "I be right back, mom..." she said as she walked into the hallway! what a mess!

she was sooooooooo good for her exam. I held beckett as dr. carter listened to his heart, etc., and evie would say, "my turn". she was using her "doctor bag" as she calls it, the other day at home and listened to my heart with her stethoscope...I asked her how it sounded..."bom, bom," she replied! hilarious!

the sweetest part of the visit was after she got her shots and bandaid...which she only cried a few moments for, it was beckett's turn. she sat on the table beside beckett, and as I was holding his hands down and kissing his cheek so the nurse could give him his shots, evie goes, "iss ok buddy, your mommy here..."----talk about a heartwarming moment!

we took some of these shots a few days after Christmas in a park in Lake Wales...man, God made some beautiful kids for us to love!

beckett is still all smiles....such a joy and always giggling...
