BECKETT UPDATE!

For all of our friends and family that are wondering what is going on, I will fill you in on our life the past 24 hours.

Yesterday, Beckett saw his pediatrician and got his 2-month shots and checkup. He was the perfect baby and got a clean bill of health. We all went to lunch (Mom, zach, evie and me) in Alachua...a little town just outside of Gainesville. While we were walking around some shops, Beckett woke up from his 30 minute snooze and my mom was holding him. I walked up to her and he looked really pale and lethargic. I took him and could not get him to change his color or get mad and cry hard, so we called 911. On the way to the hospital, he still looked pale and tired and just not himself...then his heartrate dropped into the 80's and he got really sleepy again.

He got a full work up in the ER--complete with urine culture, 2 IVs, antibiotics, chest xray, CT scans and even the much dreaded lumbar puncture. After the lumbar puncture, he had another episode of paleness, lethargy and bradycardia (low heartrate) which was captured on the EKG strip and witnessed by the ER doctor.

We were admitted to SHANDS UF and took another ambulance ride over the the "big house" because all pediatric services moved back here this week. After a long day, we spent a restless night in the IMC with a noisy roommate--bless her heart! But Beckett was back to his normal smiling, cooing self. He did have a huge poop in the ER which made the doc suspect rotavirus, which I think is negative...results still pending.

Today was uneventful and full of more tests. He got another EKG and a cardiac ECHO by the cardiology fellow which loooked "great". All of his initial bloodwork is negative and he still acts like his normal happy self.

If his cultures come back negative, he can stop getting antibiotics tomorrow. We will be here until atleast Monday. He will get an EEG (to look at his brain activity to rule out any type of seizure activity) on Monday.

My parents, John and Laura have been up here with us keeping us fed and taking care of Evie. We love our family!!!

Tonight we were moved to another room (private) and are trying to get comfortable on these hospital recliners. that is a difficult task.

Please pray that:
1) Beckett doesn't have another episode
2) If something is wrong, we find out what it is
3) Zach and I will get rest physically
4) We will rest in Christ knowing he is in control of his life and will be able to go home in peace and no be paranoid and worried about him all the time!

Thank you to all who have called and emailed! It means so much that you are in this with us!
WE love you!!

Kristy, I love keeping up with you and your precious family through your blog. When I read your entry today my heart just sank. I am so sorry for sweet little Beckett. I am just curious as to what shots he had that day? Have you considered the shots might have caused him ot have a reaction? JUST somethng to think about! Love you and miss you, Julie Whittaker Henthorne

Kristy I had no idea this was happening until I saw your update on MySpace I am praying for you Beckett, Zach and Evie and you guys will get through this. I am so sorry you are having to go through all of this. We ended up in SHands with Bella at three weeks old and she got all kinds of horrible tests to so I can try to empathize. Chin up! Miss you!
