Oh ye of little sleep

For the past 2 weeks, sleep has been lacking in a major way at Casa de Sutton. Elin started waking back up in the night to nurse…or just to cry for a few minutes. We are trying to let her “cry it out”, but that can get difficult when she is in a crib 6 inches from the end of our bed and have to lie there awake at 2:30, 4:00 and 6:15 listening to her scream…when all we want to do is close our eyes and drift back off to dreamland!

Evie has been sick with something for almost 2 weeks. Fever, belly pain, and now neck tenderness. We ended up in the ER a week and a half ago on a Friday night because after hours was closed.  She was diagnosed with a UTI…although her culture grew NO BACTERIA. She had a round of antibiotics, some pain and mild fever towards the end of the course, but seemed fine by this past weekend.

Monday morning, she started running fevers again and complained of diffuse belly aches and her throat hurting. We saw our pediatrician yesterday, gave another urine sample (that showed white blood cells and red blood cells) and sent that off for ANOTHER culture (not sure its going to show different results). She also had a rapid strep test which was negative, but that was also sent off for further testing.

We should get results tomorrow afternoon and if both are negative, we will do some bloodwork and possibly an ultrasound to look at her belly. She is taking a nap now, which is very rare, so I know she doesn’t feel great!

To top off this mess, Beckett fell asleep at Chickfila last night while we were having dinner and was running a fever…this is how my night went:

7:00-B falls asleep at CFA with a fever

7:45-arrive home, give B Motrin and put him to sleep

by 10:30, Evie is finally asleep as is Elin

12:45-Elin wakes up to nurse…we are letting her cry, but I just want her to stop, so I give in and bring her to bed to nurse.

2:30-Wake up, put Elin back in her bed so I can get more comfortable

4:00-I wake up to a hot little boy leaning over my bed…he climbs in, I get up, give him Motrin and milk

5:07-Elin starts crying

5:08-Make Zach take B back to his bed so Elin doesn’t really wake him up

5:13-Elin stops crying and goes back to sleep

7:06-Zach jumps out of bed thinking he overslept (but he didn’t)

7:10-Elin wakes up, nurse her

7:20-Put Elin back in her crib. I am up now.

7:45-lying on the couch, Evie gets up-WHAT?  she usually sleeps in. yes, fever 100.8

Zach left for work at 8:30 and my sweet friend, Mandi brought me Starbucks around noon----oh what love!!!! Made my day!

God has been sustaining me and I have been quite productive around the house despite the sickies!!!  Now mama needs shower and a good night’s sleep…or a massage and coffee…a shopping spree to Target…prepared meals for a week…anything along those lines would be great!!   Thanks for the prayers!
